What is certified, what is in progress, and what is not done yet

Exostack is a new product class, so the first question any competent specifier asks is which approvals are actually in hand. Rather than bury that, every standard that applies is listed here with its real status. If a workstream is incomplete it says so.

Where the programme stands today

Structural design and product classification are finished on both sides of the Atlantic. Third-party approval — DIBt in Germany leading to CE marking, and NRTL listing in the United States — is the live work and the gating item for market launch.

What this means for a project starting now

If your programme can accommodate a system whose national approval completes during the project, tell us your dates and we will give you a straight read on whether we will meet them. If it cannot, that is a legitimate reason to specify something else this time — and we would rather say so than have you find out at handover. The status above is updated as each workstream moves.

EN 1443Complete

Chimney classification

The umbrella classification standard for chimneys. Exostack Option B is classified T260 N1 W — temperature class 260 °C, negative pressure, wet-rated for condensate. Option A classifies at T230 and Option C at T150. Every classification parameter is declared in the product Declaration of Performance rather than described loosely in a brochure.

Free-standing industrial chimneys

The harmonised standard governing the structural design of the skeleton. CE marking runs through a DIBt national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung), which is the primary regulatory priority for German and wider EU market entry — and the single item most likely to determine our launch date.

Eurocode 3 — chimney structural design

Full calculations for the skeleton, guy wire system, base plate and anchors, including vortex-induced resonance assessment to EN 1991-1-4 Annex B. Slender guyed structures are sensitive to vortex shedding, so this is not a formality — it is the calculation that sizes the guys and sets the damping requirement.

Fire classification of construction products

The duct element is targeted at minimum Class E. Option C with the ECTFE liner achieves better fire performance and is rated to the FM 4922 duct fire safety standard. Formal EN 13501-1 testing is scheduled and not yet complete — stated here rather than implied.

IED 2025Complete

Industrial Emissions Directive, recast

Stack height and diameter are specified against the applicable BAT conclusions for your source category under the IED recast. A dispersion calculation is issued with every project rather than left for someone else to produce later.

SchfHwGDocumented

Chimney Sweep Act — Germany

German installations are commissioned by the authorised Bezirksschornsteinfeger under §14 SchfHwG. Every system ships with the full installation and commissioning documentation pack that sign-off requires, so the inspection is a formality rather than an argument about an unfamiliar product.

Standards for the US market

NFPA 211In progress

Chimneys, fireplaces, vents and solid fuel appliances

The primary US installation standard. Exostack is designed for listing as a specialty industrial vent under NFPA 211, and a testing programme with a nationally recognised testing laboratory is the US market entry priority.

UL 1777In progress

Chimney liners

Applies to the duct element as a chimney liner product. The UL 1777 listing programme is scoped alongside NFPA 211, targeted at year two of commercialisation.

ASCE 7Complete

Minimum design loads — wind

US structural calculations follow ASCE 7 throughout: basic wind speed map, exposure category, gust effect factor and dynamic amplification for a slender structure. The guy design falls out of this rather than being carried over from the European case.

AISC 360 · ACI 318Complete

Structural steel and concrete anchorage

Base plate design to AISC 360 with Design Guide 1 methodology for combined axial and moment loading. Guy and base anchors into concrete are designed to ACI 318 Chapter 17, covering pull-out, breakout, pryout and side-face blowout.

EPA 40 CFRComplete

New Source Performance Standards

Stack height and diameter are specified to meet the dispersion requirements of 40 CFR Part 60 for the applicable source category, with the calculation issued as part of the project pack.

OSHACompliant

Manual handling and working at height

Every module is under 15 kg, which keeps the installation inside two-person manual handling limits without mechanical assistance. The crew requirement is a working-at-height ticket — no crane certification, no hot work permit, no confined space entry.

An approval is only useful if the paperwork reaches the person signing the job off. Every Exostack ships with a complete pack, prepared for the inspection regime of the country it is going to rather than translated at the last minute.
